The Ministry of Health in Jamaica, will lift a ban on the importation on electronic cigarettes. On September 15th, Jamaica Customs declared that the health ministry has indicated that there is a lack of evidence to prove health risks associated with using e-cigs.
Health Minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson, has since declared that the ministry will lift the ban temporary while they consult with stakeholders to form a final decision on the alternative cigarette product.
Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Carreras, Christopher Brown, believes this is the right approach. It is his belief that a ban on e-cigarettes is not conducive to business and has a negative impact on investor relations.
