Many people have been able to quit smoking due to the invention of e-cigarettes, yet their family and friends don’t credit them with kicking the habit.


As a smoker, people are always trying to get you to quit. Your family and friends give you countless reasons to stop, and society shuns traditional cigarette smokers. So you make the switch to e-cigarettes so that you eliminate the smoke, the stench, and the judgmental looks, only to find that your family, friends and members of society aren’t ready to celebrate your victory yet.


But you have achieved something great. You’ve given up smoking for vapor!


Let’s establish that there’s a difference between cigarette smoke and e-cigarette vapor. For those who do not know much about e-cigarettes it’s easy to confuse smoke and vapor, but vapor is not just another form of smoke.


Some of the benefits of switching from traditional cigarettes to e-cigarettes include:


  1. Loss of that inconvenient odor: cigarette smoke is a clinging odor, the type that sticks to fabrics, rarely letting go. Your clothes and car will reek of cigarette smoke whether you smoke occasionally or a pack a day.

  2. Save Money: Cigarette prices are incredibly expensive, and that’s in part due to taxes on the industry due to health concerns. Today, you could spend between $7 and $12 for a pack of cigarettes depending on what state you live in. A smoker who smokes a pack a day could spend up to $300 each month. While a starter kit is higher, the month-to-month cost of electronic cigarettes is about half the price.

  3. Social Life: Smoking bans have made it very difficult for smokers to socialize, sometimes having to go outside or in a corner to enjoy a smoke. With an e-cigarette there are far more locations where you can enjoy a vape and be around friends.


 

It’s easy to understand why a person could be confused by e-cig vapor; after all, from afar vapor looks very similar to smoke. E-cigarettes also look very similar to traditional cigarettes, confusing people around you. However, e-cig vapor is very different from cigarette smoke, and here’s why:


  1. Smoking a traditional cigarette requires the burning of tobacco. This is accomplished through a cigarette, cigar, or pipe.

  2. Chewing tobacco or snuff is actually more similar to smoking a traditional cigarette than the use of an e-cig.

  3. Vaping, or using an e-cigarette, does not use tobacco.


Are you relating e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes, because they both contain nicotine? Then consider this, eggplants, broccoli, and bell peppers all contain naturally occurring nicotine.


These harmless vegetables have the same chemical makeup regarding nicotine as the tobacco plant does, but we do not consider them as dangerous to our health or compare consuming them to smoking a cigarette.


Electronic cigarettes, or ecigs, are advanced electronic devices that produce vapor. The result from the advanced e-cig technology is a heightened smoking experience. In regards to whether or not e-cigs are safer than traditional cigarettes, they do not contain tobacco, which is a leading cause of cancer. Long-term studies of the effects of e-cigarettes have not yet been conducted, as the product is relatively new to the United States.
